Woodslee & Heartland Credit Unions merged to form United Communities; a community focused bank for southern Ontario. United Communities needed a brand that promoted the unique and differentiated community focus of the credit union in contrast to traditional banking institutions. The grassroots success of United Communities’ brand is personal and friendly, which counters traditional banking brands. The brand strategy, identity system and collateral created by Russell and strategic partner, Peter Heywood, President of Industry Brand Agency, provide that community approach in their image and communications.
